Faulty Air Bags Cause Injury

The National Highway Traffic Safety Association announced Ford Motors is expanding their recall of F-150 trucks with airbags that may randomly deploy. The recall expands and will now include model years 2004-2006. As consumers we rely on corporations to put products on the market that are safe for their intended use. Toyota Sudden Acceleration Problems

The National Highway and Transportation Safety Association (NHTSA) has been investigating the sudden acceleration problems Toyota vehicles have experienced. In response Toyota announced a new recall of more than 1.4 million vehicles. The models include the 4Runner, Rav4 and Lexus LX. This recall is being added to the 2009 recall for pedal entrapment.

L.L. Bean Recalls Rocking Chairs

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 2,300 Folding Camp Rockers made by L.L. Bean. The recall is being issued over reports of the seat backs detaching from the chair. When the backs detach, consumers can fall out the back of the chair, potentially resulting in injury. The company said they have received six reports of the seat backs detaching, but no injuries associated with the defects. Staff Report, United Press International 11/27/2010

Candles Recalled due to Flammable Paint

A California candle company has issued a recall of 33,000 silver and gold metallic candles over a fire risk. General Wax & Candle issued the recall last week after it was reported that the paint on the candles could ignite. GM Recalls Nearly 200,000 Trucks to Fix Child Safety Restraints

General Motors has announced a recall of Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size pickup trucks, along with certain Isuzu i280 an i370 pickups, to repair a defect in the child restraint equipment. According to the company, the restraint equipment in the front seat does not fully meet U.S. and Canadian safety regulation standards. Under these conditions, a child placed in the front seat of these vehicles could be a risk for serious injury in a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports. Johnson & Johnson Recalls Cold Medication over Label Info

Johnson & Johnson announced last week a recall of 9.3 million bottles of cold medication. The recall, according to the company, was due to the failure to disclose the medication's alcohol content on the front label of the bottles. Staff Report, Bloomberg 11/24/2010

Additional Drop-Side Cribs Recalled

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced another recall of 90,000 drop-side cribs due to suffocation and entrapment risks. The product's manufacturer, Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc., announced the recall today. The company said infants may become trapped in the space between the mattress and the drop-side rail. There have been three reports of infants falling from the cribs and one report of a baby getting trapped. Staff Report, PR Newswire 11/22/2010

Hooded Jackets and Sweatshirts Recalled

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of more than 11,000 children's hooded jackets and sweatshirts due to strangulation risks. The products' manufacturer, VOS Sports Inc., announced the recall last week, saying the draw strings around the hoods and waists can pose as a strangulation risk for small children. Snowmobiles Recalled due to Explosion Risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 1,000 snowmobiles over a potential explosion risk. The recall covers BRP Ski-Doo Expedition and Skandic Snowmobiles. According to reports, when the engine is left idle, sparks in the gas tank could ignite the gasoline, causing the vehicle to explode. Staff Report, United Press International 11/21/2010

Consumer Product Recall

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of about 200 bicycles made by Easton Sports. The company issued the recall this week, saying a defect in the seat post could cause it to crack, creating a fall risk for the rider. No injuries have yet been reported related to the defect.
